Phone Compatibility

Due to each and every phone being different, different features from the app are available across models of phones. There are currently (as of June 2015) over 9000 different phones to try and support!

All Android phones should be able to control the sound notifications, most phones can have their vibrations controlled.

Below is a list of phones and their compatibility with controlling the LED. Note this list is not exhaustive and is based on phones we've either worked with or had reports from users.

Phone models reported to fully support LED control
  • Samsung Galaxy Nexus - full color support and multiple flash frequencies
  • Nexus 10 - full color and flash frequency support (only currently works for single users, hoping to add multi-user support soon)
  • Nexus 4  - full color and flash frequency support (version 3.4.0 and above of the app)
  • Nexus 5  - full color and flash frequency support (except always on flash rate) (version 3.12.5 and above of the app)
  • Nexus 6 - only works if rooted and the led will stay solid (ie not flash). Run the app in Direct Mode, Root mode and run every command as root
  • Nexus 6P - full support 
  • Nexus 5X - full support
  • Nexus 7 (version 2/ 2013 edition) - physically only has a white LED but can control it
  • OnePlus One - full color support
  • OnePlus Three - full color support (make sure lightflow is enabled in the apps that oxygen OS allows to control the led)
  • OnePlus Three T - full color support (make sure lightflow is enabled in the apps that oxygen OS allows to control the led)
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (N7100) - full color support. Some other Note 2 versions have trouble displaying certain colors such as Yellow and Orange
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - full color support
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 4 - some flash speeds just switch to always on and some colors aren't very accurate - workarounds required for android 5.1.1 see here
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 5 - some flash speeds just switch to always on and some colors aren't very accurate - workarounds required for android 5.1.1 see here
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 - some flash speeds just switch to always on and some colors aren't very accurate - workarounds required for android 5.1.1 see here
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 edge / edge+ - some flash speeds just switch to always on and some colors aren't very accurate - workarounds required for android 5.1.1 see here
  • Samsung Galaxy S3 (GSM version) - full color support 
  • Samsung Galaxy S3 (USA versions) - full color support 
  • Samsung Galaxy S5 - full color support  - workarounds required for android 5.1.1 see here
  • Samsung Galaxy S4 - full color support - - workarounds required for android 5.1.1 see here
  • Google Nexus One - full color support, limited flash frequencies
  • LG Optimus G Pro - full color support (note only the pro version, not the standard one)
  • LG G2 - full color support for front LEDs. Plus back led ring for root users
  • LG G3 - full color support 
  • LG G4 - full color support, "Always on" flash speed not available, but a custom rate of 50000,1 looks nearly the same
  • Motorola Atrix - most colors on froyo, all on gingerbread
  • Motorola Atrix 2
  • Motorola Bionic (Only flashing LED, not solid led)
  • Motorola Photon
  • Motorola Droid / Milestone
  • Motorola Droid 2 / Milestone

* Note that HTC phones that are upgraded to Gingerbread by HTC will require ROOT access due to HTC changing their permissions regarding access the LED control files.

  • Most other new HTC phones such as the "One" range (only 3 colors available in the LED hardware)
  • Moto G (only has one white led in it's hardware)

    Limited success with LED support for some users:
    • Samsung Epic
    • LG Ally

    Possible support (v2.2.0 onwards) for using the camera flash as a notification LED - no other support due to no other LED hardware in the phones.
    • Samsung Nexus S
    • Samsung Galaxy 2
    • LG Optimus

    Some Samsung phones running the modified kernel with BLN will also work to control the button backlights.
    Possible support (v2.2.0 onwards) for using the button back lights as a notification LED
    • Dell Streak (if rooted)
    LED Not supported
    • Samsung Galaxy S (but should be able to control the button backlight with the BLN modified kernel)
    • Most other LG models
    • Most other Samsung models
